"The twin arching towers and Roman-style pillars
on U.S. 1 near the entrance of the Riviera Hotel
and Golf Course, Holly Hill, were built in 1924 to
provide a riverfront entrance to the Rio Vista
Hotel, which never was built. In effect, the towers
are a regal entrance to nothing, more noticeable to
travelers on Calle Grande Street than to the tourists
they were expected to draw."
